DriveMyMac

Privacy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

DriveMyMac connects the cloud storage you already have and shows it as a drive in Finder. This page explains what personal data we handle, why, and what your rights are. The short version: we never see your files.

Questions or requests about your data: support@drivemymac.app.

What we never see

Your files, file names, the names of your storage and your cloud credentials never reach us. Credentials stay in the Keychain on your Mac, and the app talks directly to your cloud provider. The app has no analytics and no telemetry. It sends a message only when you write one in Send feedback. Technical details go along only if you tick “Include technical details”, and only with that message.

License key checks: Dodo Payments holds your license key and a hashed ID of the Mac it is active on. The app sends the key and this anonymous Mac identifier (as the activation name) to Dodo to activate and check itActivate the key on one Mac at a timeContract (Art. 6(1)(b))

From the app, if you tick “Include technical details”: app version, build, macOS version, drive state and recent app log lines, with file names, paths, account names and email addresses removed, and never passwords, keys, tokens or license keys. We keep no account. The app sends your license key and an anonymous Mac identifier (the activation name) to Dodo Payments to activate, check (about weekly) and remove the key, and to drivemymac.app for the update check (the Sparkle appcast).

Payments

Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record. It sells the licence to you, takes the payment, handles tax, issues the invoice and emails you the license key. It processes your payment and billing data under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your card details.

Website visit counting

This website uses Trckable, a privacy-friendly visit counter, with a small script served from cloud.trckable.com. Trckable never stores IP addresses. It keeps an anonymous visitor id in a first-party cookie (trckable_vid), a random code with nothing about you in it. We use it to count visits and see which pages are read, not to follow individuals. The script runs only on the website, never in the app. When you buy, the checkout passes that anonymous id to Dodo Payments with your order, so we can see which page led to a sale.

Who processes data for us

  • Cloudflare: hosts the website and downloads, and stores launch sign-up emails (Workers KV).
  • Railway: hosts the API that opens checkout and counts launch seats. It stores payment ids, no emails.
  • Dodo Payments: payments, tax and invoices, as described above.

Some of these providers are located in or may process data in the United States. Where that happens we rely on the provider's data protection terms, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

  • Purchase records (payment id, no email): as long as needed for refunds and seat counts. Invoice and tax records held by Dodo Payments or by us are kept as long as the law requires.
  • Launch sign-up emails: used once, for the launch email, then deleted. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
  • Support emails: as long as needed to answer you and handle follow-ups, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, and a copy in a portable format. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time (for example the launch sign-up) without affecting what happened before. You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in your country or where the seller is based.

To use any of these rights, email support@drivemymac.app. We may need to confirm it is you.

Your cloud accounts

Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and every other storage you connect are your own relationship with that provider. Their terms and privacy policies apply to that data, and we are not responsible for them.

Google user data

When you connect Google Drive, DriveMyMac asks Google for access to your Drive so it can show it as a drive on your Mac. This access is used only to list, read, create, change and delete your files when you do so from your Mac. The access token is kept in the Keychain on your Mac. Your files and their details go directly between your Mac and Google; they never pass through or get stored on our servers, and we cannot see them. We do not use Google user data for advertising, analytics, profiling or training AI models, and we do not sell it or share it with anyone. You can remove access at any time by disconnecting Google Drive in the app, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

DriveMyMac's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we update the date above. Older versions are available on request.
