What you allow
- Account
- Sign in with Microsoft in your browser. A personal account and a work or school account both work.
- Permission
- Microsoft asks to read and write your files and to stay signed in, so you do not have to sign in again each time.
- Which drive
- Your own OneDrive. DriveMyMac never picks a SharePoint library by accident.
- Work accounts
- Your organisation may need to allow the app. If sign-in says it is blocked, ask your admin.
To remove the access later, open your Microsoft account, go to the app permissions, and remove DriveMyMac.
Good to know
- A single file can be up to 250 GB.
- OneDrive ignores capital letters in names.
- OneDrive does not allow these characters in a name: " * : < > ? \ |. They are stored as look-alikes.
- Names that start with ~$ are refused, and so is a top-level folder called forms.
Why DriveMyMac for OneDrive
- Sign in with MicrosoftYou sign in on Microsoft’s own page. Your Microsoft password never touches DriveMyMac. The sign-in stays in this Mac’s Keychain.
- It looks like a Mac driveOneDrive sits in the Finder sidebar and in every app’s Open and Save windows. No special folder to learn.
- Files open when you need themNothing is copied up front. A file downloads when you open it, so a big OneDrive does not fill your disk.
- You keep your Microsoft planDriveMyMac does not sell storage. You use the OneDrive space you already pay for.
